A Brief History of the Postgraduate Program (PPs) Unsrat

The Masters Program of Sam Ratulangi University has been prepared since 1983. Its origins came from the Decree of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Number: 1040/PT 15.3/C.84, dated March 10, 1984 concerning the Establishment of the Postgraduate Education Program Preparation Team which was later upgraded to the Sam Ratulangi University Team consisting of Prof. Dr. Ir J. Warouw, Prof. Ir JWP Mandagi, M.Sc, Ph.D, Prof. Ir J. Paruntu, MS, Ph.D and Prof. Ir. DT Sembel, B.Agr.Sc, Ph.D. The team prepared proposals for the opening of several Study Programs which were then consulted with the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) in Bogor. In July 1984, with the assistance of the North Sulawesi Provincial Government, an Evaluation Team was brought in from IPB, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ir Effendi Anwar. In addition, Dr. GYJ Manoppo-W was assigned by the Chancellor to hold discussions with the University of Indonesia (UI) regarding the opening of the Linguistics Study Program. Under the coordination of Dr. EKM Masinambouw, a Masters degree in Ethnolinguistics was opened in Manado with several UI lecturers as instructors.

After going through several stages of consultation and approval from IPB Bogor, on March 16, 1985, the opening of the UNSRAT Manado Postgraduate Program was approved starting in the 1985/1986 Academic Year with the Decree of the UNSRAT Chancellor Number: 019/PT.15/a/I/85 with 5 (five) Study Programs (Prodi), namely:
