Menurut Minister of National Education Regulation No. 17 of 2010 concerning Prevention and Handling of Plagiarism in Higher Education: "Plagiarism is an intentional or unintentional act of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit or value for a scientific work, by citing part or all of another party's scientific work which is acknowledged as their scientific work, without stating the source appropriately and adequately."
At UNSRAT, in carrying out efforts to prevent plagiarism (according to Permendiknas No. 17 of 2010, Article 6) in the implementation of Tri Dharma PT by the Academic Community, 2 regulations have been issued. For lecturers, the Sam Ratulangi University Senate Regulation was issued, No. 7/Senate Unsrat/X/2016 concerning Academic Ethics of Lecturers at Sam Ratulangi University, Article 12. For students, published UNSRAT Chancellor Regulation No. 6 of 2015 concerning the Code of Ethics of Sam Ratulangi University Students, especially in Article 6, point 2, regarding student ethics in carrying out assignments, research reports, theses, dissertations (namely: "honest in the sense of not plagiarizing or using other students' assignments/reports").
Based on the above, PPs UNSRAT is making prevention efforts. where 'Thesis/Dissertation Research Proposal' and 'Thesis/Dissertation' students must be checked for similarities (similarity) with the global document. This is done online using the Turnitin application. Research proposals and theses/dissertations that have similarities (similarity) 'less than or equal to' (≤) 20% which is used for student study completion.
